Checking how busy is your web site [Tour 6 of 23]
The Pro version of Site Vigil offers facilities for monitoring the rise and fall of the number of people accessing a web site. This is more sophisticated than a count of the number of 'hits' as a reflects the overall 'busyness' of a site and can be monitored at frequent intervals (typically hour by hour). The results are displayed in graphical form and an alert is raised automatically if the change in web site traffic is above or below a configurable tolerance from the historical traffic profile.
This profile shows an uneven and spasmodic distribution of visitors to the web site. An orange bar indicates when a short burst of web site traffic was outside the normal distribution of traffic and an alert was raised.
