Site Vigil / Upgrade
Version 3.1 Build 42 - Emulation for Quick Evaluation
This version is an incremental upgrade to Site Vigil builds 31 through to 41. Monitoring settings are forwards compatible from all these builds.
Configuration and data files are backwards compatible. Please backup your configuration settings (using the Export feature in Options screen) and configuration folder contents before upgrading.

It contains the following major new features :
- Special emulation mode to provide predefined configuration for evaluation
- Uses conditional FTP REST automatically when this supported by a server
- The automated spider scan take account of robots.txt and META HTML directives
- Summaries can be automatically archived to a folder for historical analysis
It contains the following enhancements to existing functionality :
- The report list allows a double click to take you to the source of the report (when known)
- The main icon list has a right click context menu to allow access to Add, Remove, Rename sites and displaying an alert list
- New menu command to activate the Analyser utility at any time
- The active alert list is automatically truncated if it gets too big
- The first SMS provider configuration is preselected to give details
- If a problem is detected with a link in a page the line number within the HTML is shown
- An email alert shows the alert source in the subject title
- Add help menu to status viewer
The following fixes have been applied :
- When a screen is restored from minimised state make sure it is always visible
- Sometimes watch scans can not be switched on in the Scheduler only in the Wizard
- The Access historical data may not show exactly 999.999 to indicate a failed scan
- An automatically generated schedule name may grow in length indefinitely
- Some alerts did not indicate that they are associated with a site by displaying an icon
- If alerts occur while the Scheduler is disabled the process should not be brought to the top
- The total load time for Spider scan of pages is not computed when a stored map is displayed
- Multiple simultaneous spider scans may be prematurely terminated
- Internet Explorer Proxy detection may not extract the IP addresses correctly under XP
- Occasionally the worker process may start off two copies of the Scheduler to display alerts
- If use the analyser to scan a local (file:// site) then no elapsed time or cancel
- The Follow ... button in the spider result list will not work if the base URL is in a subfolder
- The Application title for the Analyser is not updated when spider scans are started
- Long pause when adding new alerts when the Scheduler active
- Resource leak while spider scanning could limit number of pages that can be scanned
- Local file:// scan may give wrong size for binary files (including graphics)
