Site Vigil™ / Upgrade

Version 3.0 Build 41 - Significant new features

This version is an incremental upgrade to Site Vigil builds 31 through to 40. Monitoring settings are forwards compatible from all these builds.

Configuration and data files are backwards compatible. Please backup your configuration settings and configuration folder before upgrading.

Release date 14th January 2003.

The main feature is a reworking of the alert management facilities.

It contains the following major new features :

• New summary status view to show overall status at a glance
• Able to send out SMS alerts to mobile phones and pagers
• Whole sites can be scanned on a programmed regular basis or manually using the Analyser
• Watch logic keeps track of accesses to all pages on a web site
• All analysis data can be dumped out in HTML, XML and CSV format

It contains the following enhancements to existing functionality :

• The alerting Site is highlighted with a special icon in the menu selector
• Graphs support a monthly, weekly as well as daily scale
• The summary report includes a list of active alert conditions
• The number of retries for Access monitoring can be configured
• Events can be scheduled to run monthly as well as weekly, daily etc.
• The summary report includes graphs to indicate changes to access and traffic
• A keyword summary list is provided to show search engine referrals
• The alerting status for Ping/Access items is updated dynamically
• Able to use Insert/Delete keys to add/remove items from lists
• If an alert action fails it is automatically escalated
• New option to suppress activation if Scheduler is active but minimised
• Access scans can be made to local files using the special file: protocol
• Access checks measure the download speed as well as separate lookup and connect latency
• Alerts may be raised midway through work processing rather than waiting to the end
• The Lite version can be more easily upgraded to the Pro version
• An Internet browser shortcut is added to web based viewer on installation

The following fixes have been applied :

• If alert occurs while adding Url/Ping may get bad dialog error message
• Possible crash if close the error configuration window with graph key left open
• All the report lists have a consistent sort order
• The Access summary list takes proper account of *Changed* indication
• The busy 'hour glass' was displayed briefly when a scheduled event occurred
• Wider range of HTML pages can be scanned automatically
• The watch statistics may be incorrect at start of each week
• The Wizard no longer supports import via .INI browse button
• On Windows95/98 the shortcuts on the start menu were not deleted on uninstall
