Disk Space Chart

Incomplete Folder Scans

Here's a page from the extensive help system for Disk Space Chart. It is displayed as a help screen when running the program. To get the full picture Download Disk Space Chart and see the screen in its full context.

On Windows® there are often folders that are inaccessible, due to access permissions.

On Windows Vista® or 7 you may be able to view the folders if you have elevated permissions, or alternatively when logged in to an account with higher access privileges.

The screen gives a list of the folders it was unable to scan. Because they could not be accessed their size is unknown and they are not added to the chart of space used by folders.

To rescan the folders with elevated permissions press the Rescan button. You will be prompted for permission to elevate and, if granted, Disk Space Chart will be restarted in the new mode and scan the folders that it could not previously access.
